UUNDERSTANDING THE PRACTICE
What is TCTSY?
Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a body-based practice developed for people who have experienced trauma. It centers on noticing physical sensations in the present moment and making choices about movement, with guidance from a certified facilitator.
During a session, I offer simple movements as invitations. You might explore moving your arms, notice your feet touching the floor, or choose to pause. You can try an option, change it, or leave it out. There’s no expectation to share your trauma history during the movement practice.
AN APPROACH CENTERED ON YOU
What makes this practice different?
Choice throughout
You can choose your pace, your range of movement, and whether to participate in an invitation. You’re welcome to change your mind as you go, without needing to explain your decision.
Your experience matters
We make room for what you notice in your own body. There’s no expectation to reach a particular position, feel relaxed, or have the same experience from one session to the next.
A shared practice
As your facilitator, I practice alongside you and offer options to explore. You can use my movement as a reference while deciding what you’d like to try for yourself.
Exploring TCTSY together
We can talk about what brings you to this practice and explore which format may fit your needs and preferences.
Individual TCTSY sessions
A dedicated space to explore trauma-sensitive movement one-to-one. We’ll discuss your goals, the space you have available, and any preferences or questions you’d like to bring to the practice. Sessions are offered virtually for adults throughout Colorado.
TCTSY within therapy
If we’re working together in therapy, TCTSY can be an optional part of our work. We can discuss how it may fit alongside conversation or EMDR therapy, guided by your needs, interests, and readiness.

Questions about starting TCTSY
-
No previous yoga experience or particular level of flexibility is needed. I offer simple movements with options for participating. We can discuss your preferences and any movement limitations before beginning, including whether you’d prefer to practice from a chair or a mat.
-
You’ll need a device for our video session, a reliable internet connection, and a private space with room for the movements you choose to explore. Comfortable clothing and a chair or yoga mat may be useful. We can talk about your setup beforehand and work with the space and supports you have available.
-
There’s no expectation to describe or process your trauma history during the movement practice. TCTSY focuses on your present-moment experience and the choices available to you. Before beginning, we’ll discuss what brings you to the practice, your current supports, and what would help us determine whether working together is a good fit.
-
Yes. If we’re working together in therapy, TCTSY can be an optional part of our work alongside conversation or EMDR. I also offer dedicated individual TCTSY sessions. During a consultation, we can discuss these options and consider which approach fits your needs and preferences.

Individual TCTSY sessions are $180 for 50 minutes or $270 for 80 minutes. My practice is private pay, and I do not bill insurance directly. Group fees are listed separately on the TCTSY group page.
