Online Trauma & EMDR Therapy for Adults in Boulder, Colorado

From the outside, life may look normal. Inside, you may feel weighed down by past experiences, overwhelmed by loss, or tired of carrying it all alone. I offer online therapy for adults in Boulder and across Boulder County, including Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, and Superior, from the privacy of your own home.

Trauma therapy that goes beyond talking

You may have talked about what happened and gained insight yet still feel on edge or stuck. Healing does not mean forcing yourself to relive painful moments or pushing before you are ready. We build safety first, then work at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach blends talk therapy with EMDR and Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), because trauma affects the body as well as the mind.

How online EMDR works

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps painful memories feel less distressing. You still remember what happened, but the memory has less hold on the present. I have used EMDR since 2018 and began offering it online in 2020; in my own clinical work I have not noticed a difference in results between online and in person.

We spend time getting to know you and preparing together before any memory processing begins. There are several ways to do bilateral stimulation by video, and we will find what feels comfortable for you.

Grief and loss

Trauma and grief often overlap. When a loss includes distressing memories, such as the circumstances of a death, EMDR may be part of our work. The goal is never to erase your connection to someone you love or to rush your grief.

Therapy for helping professionals

I also work with therapists, first responders, yoga teachers, and others who spend their lives caring for people. [Adrienne: add a sentence here if you work with many Boulder-area helping professionals.]

Why online therapy works for Boulder County

Sessions take place on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. There is no commute, and you can meet from a place where you feel comfortable. I am a Colorado-licensed counselor and see adults located anywhere in Colorado. [Adrienne: add one or two sentences about any personal or professional connection to Boulder, if true.]

Fees and getting started

Sessions are $180 for 50 minutes or $270 for 80 minutes. My practice is private pay and not in network with insurance, but I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement, and I accept HSA and FSA cards.

The first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation. We talk about what brings you here and decide together whether we are a good fit, with no pressure or obligation

Meet Adrienne: A Warm, Collaborative Approach to Therapy

Choosing a therapist means finding someone you can imagine being yourself with—even when you’re unsure what to say or where to begin.

I bring more than a decade of experience as a therapist, along with training in EMDR and certification in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). My work centers on supporting adults through trauma, grief, and experiences that have changed how they relate to themselves and the world.

I’m interested in understanding you beyond the concerns that bring you to therapy: your relationships, what matters to you, what you’ve already tried, and how you’ve found ways to get through difficult things.

You can bring questions, uncertainty, humor, frustration, or whatever is present that day. We’ll build a relationship where your feedback matters and where there’s room to adjust as we learn what works for you.

When You’ve Already Done Some Work on Yourself

You may have been to therapy before. Perhaps you understand your patterns, can explain where they came from, and have developed helpful coping skills—but still find yourself reacting in familiar ways.

That can feel discouraging, especially when you’ve put considerable effort into feeling better.

We can explore what previous therapy offered you, where you still feel stuck, and what you’d like to approach differently. Depending on your needs, our work may include conversation, EMDR, or opportunities to notice and respond to your experience through body-based practices.

You won’t need to start from scratch or dismiss what has already helped.

What Starting Therapy Looks Like

Begin with a brief conversation.
The free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to discuss what you’re looking for and answer initial questions. You can ask about my experience, how I work, or any concerns about online therapy.

Take time to get acquainted.
In our first sessions, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, what you hope might change, and what support looks like for you. You can share at a pace that feels manageable.

Develop a direction together.
We’ll discuss possible approaches and make a plan that reflects your needs and preferences. That plan can change as your circumstances, goals, or comfort with the work evolve.

You Don’t Have to Wait Until Things Feel Unmanageable

You might be seeking support after a significant loss or distressing experience. You might also simply recognize that the way you’ve been getting through each day is leaving you depleted.

Either is a valid place to begin. There’s room to seek support while you’re still functioning, still caring for others, and still figuring out what you need.
