Trauma Center for Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)

I am a trained TCTSY Facilitator and offer this in sessions with clients. TCTSY Trauma Sensitive Yoga is the world’s first and only yoga-based intervention for complex trauma and PTSD that has been found to be as effective as talk therapy through twenty years of original research.

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a research-supported, evidence-based approach designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma reconnect with their bodies in a safe and supportive way. Unlike traditional yoga classes, TCTSY is not focused on physical performance or poses, but rather on helping individuals build awareness, choice, and a sense of control within their own bodies.

Developed by the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, TCTSY is the first and only scientifically validated, yoga-based clinical intervention for complex trauma and PTSD. This approach is often used alongside traditional talk therapy to support healing from trauma by addressing how trauma is stored in the body, not just the mind.

In Trauma-Sensitive Yoga sessions, the focus is on gentle movement, breathing, and noticing body sensations in a way that feels safe and manageable. There is no pressure to perform movements a certain way, and participants are always encouraged to make choices that feel right for their body.

This approach can help individuals:

  • Feel more connected to their body

  • Increase feelings of safety and control

  • Improve grounding and emotional regulation

  • Reduce symptoms of trauma and stress

  • Build self-compassion and empowerment

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga can be incorporated into individual therapy sessions or offered as a separate session, depending on your needs and comfort level.
